What is Iwanna?
Iwanna is the largest user-generated shopping network in the Carolina mountains. It began publishing in Asheville, N.C., in April 1976 as a four-page flyer consisting of 56 free classified ads. Now it publishes thousands upon thousands of user-generated classified listings every week in newspaper-size shopping guides that are distributed in Asheville, Greenville, Hickory and Spartanburg. Iwanna.com makes the entire database of classifieds searchable online in those communities as well as in Charlotte and the Tri-Cities area (Johnson City, Kingsport and Bristol, TN).
How do I use Iwanna.com?
From our home page at Iwanna.com, pick the community where you like to shop. Then just browse the hundreds of classifications or search specifically for an item or service by using our search bar.
How does Iwanna handle search queries?
Keyword queries will return exact text matches from our huge database of user-generated content.
Do I have to register to gain access?
You do not have to register to browse or search classified listings, but you may not be able to view all information about the ads without being registered.
Why are listings abbreviated and contact information crossed out?
Iwanna.com is a subscription-based service. Non-subscribers can freely browse or search Iwanna.com, but only subscribers get "Total View" – access to complete listings and contact information. Non-subscribers get abbreviated versions of each listing, although they may see a complete listing if an advertiser has purchased "Total View" so that all may see their ad.
How do I access the complete content?
Click here to subscribe or click the "create an account" or "purchase Iwanna" links on the site. "Total View" of Iwanna.com listings is available for as little as $1 a week.
I bought a subscription but I'm still seeing abbreviated content and crossed-out contact information. Why?
Subscribers must log in to get Total View. Use your phone number and password in the "Your Log-In" feature in the left-hand navigation bar of any page.
My phone number doesn't seem to work for my login?
Try entering your phone number without any dashes or spaces and try again. Make sure to enter the area code in the top field and then your phone number in the bottom field.
How long does a session last once I have logged-in?
As long as you are actively using the site, you can browse or search as long as you like. However, as a security precaution, the site will automatically log out of your session after 30 minutes of inactivity. Simply log in to start again.
How do I place a free classified ad?
Click the "Submit Ad" button in the left-hand navigation bar or above the search bar on any page. If you don't have a free account, you will be prompted to register for one.
How do I manage my ads?
Your current ads will appear on your log-in page. You can edit them there.
What can I do on my log-in page?
Your log-in page shows your subscription status, displays your ads, informs you of the next publication deadline, and allows you to renew either ads or subscriptions.
How many words can I put in a free ad?
Your free ad can be up to 25 words (30 in our Hickory edition).
When will my free ad be posted to the site?
Free ads are posted on Iwanna.com the day they are printed in the paper – every Tuesday. However, an ad with the upgraded "Instant Up" option posts within the next business day.
How long does my free ad stay on the website?
Free listings are posted for two weeks unless you delete it from your log-in page. After the two-week period, it will be removed automatically.
Can I change my ad or delete my ad completely?
You can edit or delete any ad that you have submitted on your log-in page. Remember, if you edit or delete a free ad according to the posted deadlines on your log-in page, the changes will be posted the following Tuesday.
Do I have to be a subscriber to submit an ad?
No. You do not have to be a subscriber to submit an ad. The ad will post just like the other free ads every Tuesday.
If I submit my ads through the phone center, can I edit them online?
No. Only ads that are submitted online can be edited and deleted online.
I can't find the free ad that I just placed. Where is it?
You will not be able to find your free ad online until the next cycle of the paper, which publishes each Tuesday. If you purchased the "Instant Up" option, your ad will post within the next business day. You can edit ads up until the deadline for the next edition; however, edits made after deadline will not appear until the next edition publishes.
